Lavender aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses concentrated plant oils, the chemicals which are in the aroma of the oils pass to the lungs and round the body having various physical and emotional effects. Many oils should not be used when pregnant or breastfeeding and are used by midwives as a clinical intervention.

Aromatherapy for pregnancy has many benefits but also contraindications and must be used by practitioners who are qualified for maternity. Please contact Kirsty to discuss specific conditions.

Aromatherapy is often administered via massage but is dependent on the situation. Administration may be suggested to be via inhalation, reflexology or in the bath.

Aromatherapy is a beautiful complementary therapy during pregnancy, labour and postpartum and a personal favourite of Kirsty in supporting home births.
